Do you remember the first website that you built? How did it look like? I bet you thought that it wasn’t the coolest you have, but at some point you thought that you are already capable of building one nice looking website without compromising its functionality. When we learned Flash, we thought the possibility of designing stunning websites was boundless. Yet at the time when Flash was criticized as bandwidth-hogging, information hiding piece of application, we managed to evolve as successful, up-to-date web designers with the introduction of AJAX, light box and related technologies.

TED is a gathering of world’s prominent thinkers and doers and share what they are passionate about. TED stands for Technology, Entertainment and Design, and that illustrates the broad topics speakers of this gathering talk about. Landscope.com websiteBeansBox has a longstanding relationship with Landscope, a luxury property agent here in Hong Kong. Since 2006, we helped them design their website look and feel, built the backend system and online marketing. We didn’t just build their site, we also did enhance it for user experience and ability to deliver information better. In fact, we relaunched it just a month ago.

Building websites is an art, you showcase your creativity. But it’s also a science that it should address the needs of its intended viewers. So it’s not good enough to have an artistic website that does not have a clear direction. A website is built for a purpose to be effective and such purpose should be linked with clear objectives.

Everyone seems to find it exciting to use Twitter, the microblogging tool that allows one to send short messages 140 characters at a time. Because blog is long and boring, Twitter offers an avenue for one to be more straightforward, direct to the point. As Twitter becomes a new tool to broadcast ourselves, let’s consider it as another marketing channel where we can draw attention from the crowd. And with digital marketing, visits to our links via Twitter should be tracked. In this manner we will be able to compare how effective Twitter is. We write our rants, we respond to questions, we share links (with the help of URL shortening services). That’s the beauty of Twitter. (In case you’re starting out with Twitter, you may want to read this user manual. Otherwise, you may want to follow BeansBox if you haven’t done so yet.)
