No man is an island, and this applies to Twitter; you can’t have an account and not get connected with anyone. You need to follow or to be followed so Twitter becomes useful. Otherwise it defeats the purpose of having a Twitter account.

TED is a gathering of world’s prominent thinkers and doers and share what they are passionate about. TED stands for Technology, Entertainment and Design, and that illustrates the broad topics speakers of this gathering talk about. Among its past speakers are Tim Berners-Lee, Malcolm Gladwell, Larry Page and Sergey Brin, and Al Gore, although Arthur Benjamin is one of my favorites.

During the past few days, I wrote about importance of developing blogs, tips on how to write them and why updating them makes sense. Now if you have chosen to write one and an arsenal of topics to write about, you’re almost there. But it’s not enough that we pick one platform, install it and publish our first official blog entry. Obviously, we’d like to setup a blog that actually works the way it should be: search engine friendly, conveniently allows visitors to subscribe, flights unwanted spam comments and so on. So here’s a little checklist when starting a new blog.

Many have joined the Twitter bandwagon and for various reasons. We earlier highlighted a few things we can do with Twitter to make it a useful application. Now, we’d like to be more straightforward in answering questions like “what can I gain from using Twitter?”.

We write blogs because we feel it’s a more casual way of communicating to everybody. However, if we look at some of our archived entries, we find that they are misspelled, inaccurate and have other mistakes we never discovered the time we published them. Clearly, there is a need to review past entries and make necessary edits.

Blog comments complete the interactivity of every single blog post. Without their presence, it feels like a storyteller is sharing a story to an empty room, boring and devoid of any interesting passage. Comments whether affirmative or antagonistic provide a good avenue to expand the idea behind a story, an opportunity to explore its strengths and weaknesses and generally learn from it.

The Facebook username landrush has passed, and I had to settle for my firstname.lastname combination after the username I desired was no longer available. Even if I was on my machine during the waning moments of the countdown.
